this is a 'permanent' artwork in the grounds at the fremantle art centre...a whole collection of books buried into the earth. usually public art in open spaces is durable, doesn't erode by weather and very permanent. but this piece has another element... of decay, it changes over time, it's being eaten by insects and swollen by moisture. one day it will disappear all together...
